Reviews
Nice warm friendly atmosphere. The staff greeted me and apologised for not serving me immediately. That was fine but after 5 minutes waiting (no one else in the queue) I was on the point of leaving when they served me. The foccacia sandwich was delicious and delivered within a few minutes of ordering. Tea in a pot was appreciated too (hate tea bag plonked in a mug of water). Cutlery and serviettes were available to help yourself. It would have been a nice touch if they'd offered to bring some over to me. However, overall it's a great place to stop.
Best sandwich ever!
Had the smoked trout, pesto and rocket focaccia ... absolutely delicious.
We ordered the large between two of us, and it probably would've easily gone between 3 or 4. ( we managed to eat it all as it tasted so bloody good)
The bread was out of this world.
The all important coffee (cortado) was excellent
Staff were friendly, and had a nice chat about them.
I thought the pricing was reasonable.
Would highly recommend eating and drinking here.
Now we’re talking. La Collina was a treat - they have a short, simple home-made lunch menu. I had gnocchi with Bolognaise sauce. Perfect portion size. Coffee was delicious and forced myself to have a pistachio cannoli alongside it. Matt the chef is a focused on flavour and dishes with a twist - you can taste it. Nice space to work from too. Back soon.
BACK AGAIN: La Collina is a hidden gem. The menu is developing from daytime only into an evening offering too. Matt, the creator and chef is passionate about the menu. New menu dropping in mid August. Go there.
Small and very hospitable cafe who encourage and support upcoming/small jazz artists and bands with a jazz night at the end of each month. We paid £5 for entry and the drinks were priced just right - what more to ask for?
A glass of read and some live music…
Overall great experience 🙌🏽
Stumbled across this place by accident and what a find!
The beef ragu with poached eggs and parmigiano on sourdough toast was delicious and I will definitely be back to try more. Espresso and cannoli finished off an enjoyable brunch.
Gorgeous cafe on the edge of the furthest edge of the Northern Quarter. Wooden floored with comfy window stools to sit on and just watch the world go by.
Coffee and Cannoli... mmmmm. The Sicilian Ricotta was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and the Hazlenut Chocolate was gorgeous.
"Ah, but have you not tried the CHOCOLATE?" asked all of the staff as I left. "Honestly, that's the BEST. They're all good but that is just awesome."
Did I mention friendly and seriously enthusiastic staff? Well, I had no choice but to take an evidence-based approach and try it. It's... Really, Really Good, but it isn't ricotta.
A new favourite.
PS The mushrooms on toast are fabulous.
PPS Did I ever mention the Ricotta Cannoli?
went to have a morning dose of coffee right after opening hour and the strong lungo really made me perk up! also had a pistachio cannoli (the staffs recommended gluten free one) which tasted really good. good value for money too!
22£ for these 2 plates, 1 brunch and 1 sandwich (mortadella)
Brunch 5 stars, delicious
Service 5 stars.
Sandwich 4stars. I would have expected 1-2 slices more of mortadella and would have preferred it warmer.
